Bomba rice enjoys a reputation for being the best paella rice money can buy and the most difficult variety in Spain to grow and harvest. The small, short and round grains do not swell lengthways as other varieties do yet they increase during cooking by up to three times their width (most varieties will swell to about twice their size). It makes perfect paella because the fattened grains absorb so much flavour and mosture yet remain wholesome and seperated. 500g in an rustic-style cloth sack.
La Campana bomba rice has a Denomination of Origin from Valencia where it grows in certain areas. It is notoriously difficult to grow and harvest and was all but extinct until a few years ago when demands from gourmet chefs withing Spain inspired it’s revival.
